DelgadoMD Prescriptive Pigment Peel

Hyperpigmentation and discoloration can make the skin appear blotchy and uneven. Fortunately, there are cosmetic treatments that can reveal more radiant skin. For those who would like to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and smooth out the skintone, Dr. Miguel Delgado, a California board-certified plastic surgeon, recommends a prescriptive pigment peel, specially designed to brighten the skin.

An Effective and Gentle Solution to Hyperpigmentation

A DelgadoMD Prescriptive Pigment Peel, which combines Arbutin and vitamin A, is a non-irritating treatment that can revive the skin and brighten the appearance. The treatment is the first standardized superficial non-acid chemical peel; it prompts the skin to peel without the side effects of burning or wounding the skin. Because of its unique formula, the DelgadoMD Prescriptive Pigment Peel can safely be used on all skin types, including darker skin.

A DelgadoMD Prescriptive Pigment Peel can address three main types of hyperpigmentation:

  • Sun spots. Typically seen on middle-aged and older skin, sun spots arise due to cumulative exposure to the sun.
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Often affecting individuals with acne, PIH can also be the result of a burn, cut, abrasion or a minor injury. PIH is most prevalent in people with darker skin.
  • Melasma. This type discoloration is associated with hormone changes and occurs due to a pregnancy, the use of contraceptives containing hormones, or hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

Choosing the Right DelgadoMD Prescriptive Pigment Peel Strength

The DelgadoMD Prescriptive Pigment Peel comes in two strengths, specially formulated to address the different levels of hyperpigmentation. Based on the type of discoloration and the characteristics of the skin, Dr. Delgado will recommend the best strength for optimal results.

Peel Strength Description Frequency
Standard Peel Medium-Strong Ideal for: Moderate to severe or resistant hyperpigmentation. The peel can be repeated every 6 months if more than one peel is necessary.
Mini Peel Light-Medium Ideal for: Mild to moderate hyperpigmentation. The peel can be repeated every 2-3 months if more than one peel is necessary.

After the Treatment

After the treatment, patients will leave the office with a yellow-tinged masque, which should be removed about two hours after the application with a gentle cleanser. Our facial peel specialist will advise on when the face should be cleansed. The DelgadoMD Prescriptive Pigment Peel does not require any downtime.

To accelerate healing, amplify and extend the peel benefits, both the Standard Peel and Mini Peel include a homecare product kit. The Mini Peel also includes one full size treatment cream.
