Sculptra is a non-invasive injectable treatment that can be used to correct signs of facial aging.
Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic material that is biocompatible and has a long history of safe use in medicine. Dr. Miguel Delgado M.D. has safely administered Sculptra to many of his patients in his Novato, Marin County office. When Sculptra is injected deep into your skin, it helps to replace loss collagen. This reinforces the skin’s structure and gradually adds fullness to the treatment area. A full treatment involves 2 – 3 rounds of Sculptra injections, spaced a month apart. Full results will be seen within 6 months and can last up to 2 years.
Sculptra is different from dermal fillers like Juvéderm and Radiesse, which are used to treat very specific concerns. These fillers are great for treating individual wrinkles and can safely be used on nearly every area of the face. In contrast, Sculptra is better at treating broader areas of the face and cannot be used in certain areas. Sculptra can be used to treat the following concerns:
Sculptra is able to produce remarkable results, but it is not right for everyone. Ideal candidates for Sculptra are those who want to treat a broad area of the face. These individuals want long-term results from their treatment and will be satisfied with the results being gradually revealed over 6 months. They must also be willing to have multiple treatments within the 6-month period. Individuals who want immediate results may be better suited for another type of dermal filler. In some cases, Dr. Delgado may recommend a combination of Sculptra and another filler to achieve an optimal result.
Some people cannot undergo Sculptra treatments. Anyone who is allergic to lidocaine, is pregnant or nursing, or has certain autoimmune disorders should not receive Sculptra injections. During your initial consultation, Dr. Delgado and his team will conduct a thorough medical history review to determine whether Sculptra is safe for you.
In order to achieve the best results and avoid complications, we recommend that anyone undergoing Sculptra adhere to the following recommendations for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment:
If you’re interested in long-term rejuvenation of the cheeks, lower face, and/or temple area, then Sculptra might be right for you. Sculptra is more challenging to administer than other types of dermal fillers, so we encourage you to consult with a qualified and experienced medical team if you are considering Sculptra. Dr. Delgado and his team have achieved great results with Sculptra and have a long list of many satisfied patients. To learn more, please contact us to set up an initial consultation with Dr. Delgado.
